Reality TV star calls on customers to join her for charity Christmas Jumper-thon in-centre
Business woman and reality RV star Amy Childs is to return to Meadowhall next month to showcase her Autumn/Winter 2014 fashion collection and will be heading up the Centre’s charity Christmas Jumper-thon.
Bringing Essex appeal to the women of Yorkshire, the former TOWIE star and fashionista will bring her pop-up boutique in-centre from Friday October 31 to Sunday November 2.
As part of her latest visit to Sheffield, Amy, who shot to fame on hit ITV show The Only Way Is Essex, will be joining shoppers for an extra special event celebrating start of the festive period and the rise of the seasonal sweater in-centre on Saturday November 1.
Meadowhall is planning to set a new world record for the largest gathering of people wearing Christmas jumpers in any one place.
The Christmas Jumper-thon – a Guinness World Record attempt taking place at 11.30am – will form part of the Centre’s Christmas Wrapped Up Early event whilst helping to raise vital funds and awareness for Charity of the Year St Luke’s Hospice.
A minimum of 639 participants will be needed to don their long-sleeved seasonal sweaters in order to set a new record.
Speaking about the visit, Amy said: “I’m so excited to be returning to Meadowhall Shopping Centre next month and showcasing my Autumn/Winter 2014 collection to the shoppers of Sheffield. I love coming to Sheffield, the people are great – it’s always such a laugh!
“I’m so excited to be joining hundreds of shoppers as we attempt to break the World Record for the most people wearing Christmas jumpers in one place. We’ll be putting on our silliest seasonal jumpers in order to smash the world record, and raise funds and awareness for a wonderful local charity, St Luke’s Hospice.
“So, why not come along and join me at the Meadowhall Christmas Wrapped Up Early event, start your seasonal shopping and be part of breaking a World Record whilst helping an amazing cause – see you there! I’m so excited!”
Following the record attempt, the festive fashion wearers will be able to spend the rest of the day in-centre enjoying getting Christmas Wrapped Up Early.
The exclusive all-day shopping event will see hundreds of exclusive offers, discounts and pampering freebies as well as festive activities across the malls guaranteed to get you into the Christmas spirit including a meet and greet with the Penguins of Madagascar, a magical family photo experience in a giant snow globe and a chance to get some top tips from our festive shopping angels.
Meadowhall is asking all world record attempt participants to make an optional £1 donation to the Centre’s Charity of the Year St Luke’s Hospice, which cares adults across Sheffield who are living with incurable illnesses.
Meadowhall, the region’s largest shopping centre, is host to a variety of stores many of which already have Christmas jumpers in stock including Primark, Next, Debenhams, Marks & Spencer and more.
The centre is open seven days a week with extended opening hours throughout the Christmas period. It has an impressive range of eateries including restaurants, bars and cafes alongside its family friendly facilities such as the cinema and child play area.
The World Record attempt will take place at 11.30am on Park Lane in-centre and Meadowhall is asking budding record breakers to arrive by 11.15am to take part.
