Rotherham Youth Enterprise and UK Steel Enterprise launch search for bright young business owners
Rotherham Youth Enterprise (RYE) has launched its annual search to find the brightest young entrepreneurs across the borough.
RYE, which provides help and support to young business owners, has launched its Rotherham Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards in association with UK Steel Enterprise.
The awards, now in their ninth year, cover all sectors and aim to celebrate and promote the best businesses run by young people in Rotherham.
While the latest figures show that companies from multiple industry sectors have already entered, there is still time to apply before the closing date on October 20.
A breakdown of entrants for this year’s Awards, which shortlists around 10 companies from across Rotherham, shows that technology, services and retail companies are currently represented alongside food & drink and business services.
Darren McDool, Business Coach from Rotherham Youth Enterprise, said: “From the entries we have received so far, it is great to see so many different sectors represented, but there’s still time for young entrepreneurs to enter and give themselves the chance to be recognised for their achievements.
“Previous winners have reaped the rewards from this competition and we would love to see other Rotherham-based enterprises enjoying the same benefits.”
Supported by lead sponsor UK Steel Enterprise, a subsidiary of Tata Steel tasked with helping the economic regeneration of communities affected by changes in the steel industry, the Rotherham Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards were set up to recognise and reward the best young business minds in the area.
There are four award categories; Best New Start-Up, Business Most Determined to Succeed, Best Established Business and Most Innovative Business. One of the winners of these four categories will then be awarded the main prize of Rotherham Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
Last years’ winner of the main award, Gavin Edley of Vitalife Teas said “Since winning the award we have almost trebled our turnover and I’m sure the credibility and awareness that winning a Rotherham Young Entrepreneur of the Year award brings will have contributed to us achieving this rapid growth.”
Entries for the awards will close on 20th October 2014 and entry forms are available by contacting Rotherham Youth Enterprise at www.rotherham.gov.uk/rye and completing the enquiry form or find Rotherham Youth Enterprise on Facebook or for more information contact Darren McDool on 0114 2695053 or Jackie Frost on 01709 380906.
