Meadowhall study reveals a city of risk-takers when it comes to style

 

Sheffield is a city of rebellious risk-takers especially when it comes to females and their love for fashion, research by Meadowhall Shopping Centre has revealed.

A survey conducted by the Centre found that more than 60 per cent of women prefer dark and daring to demure and dainty and look to pop icon Rihanna for their brave and bold fashion inspiration.

Figures also revealed that more than 75 per cent of Steel City ladies would describe themselves as a strong individual with their own mind, while less than five per cent saw themselves as quiet and reserved.

Women of the Steel City were unanimous on one thing though – the dream date for any Sheffield lass would be a night with rebellious royal Prince Harry opposed to his sensible older brother William.

Shoppers were asked to take part in the style-led survey to mark the launch of Meadowhall’s Autumn/Winter fashion campaign which celebrates the various personalities clothes can portray.

The seasonal shoot showcases three key looks, all of which were popular with our surveyed shoppers; the winner, the dark and moody Rebellious look features clothing with attitude including leather, textured fabrics and hard-wear accessories.

The second style, termed Square, sees urban utility meets geek chic showing a modern take on military with a fusion of fresh checks and minimal accessories so the print does all the talking.

And the final look Loud which is perfect for the city, offers the modern woman polished versatility to take her from day to night with simple style and a splash of bright colour.

Meadowhall’s Resident Style and Beauty advisor Bethanie Lunn said: “It’s wonderful to hear that the women of Sheffield are strong and confident individuals with a tendency to rebel against the mainstream and take risks when it comes to style.

 

“Fashion is all about being an individual – using both clothes and accessories to express yourself and how you’re feeling which is what Meadowhall’s Autumn Winter campaign is all about.

“Choosing certain styles allows you to morph from rebellious, to loud and then square all in a quick wardrobe change and showcasing these various personalities and styles in their seasonal campaign demonstrates that Meadowhall has a finger firmly on the fashion pulse and can cater to everyone’s tastes with its vast array of retailers in Centre.”

Meadowhall, one of the region’s top shopping centres, is host to a variety of top fashion retailers from high ends designers House of Fraser, Reiss, Ted Baker, LK Bennett and All Saints through to well-known high street names including Topshop, Warehouse, Urban Outfitters, Miss Selfridge and Zara.
