A team of ice hockey enthusiasts have joined together once again to raise money for The Children’s Hospital Charity, Sheffield, in their annual All Stars tournament.
The squad, which consists of 17, will compete on July 26 and 27 in a fundraising tournament to raise much needed funds for the transformation of The Children’s Hospital, Sheffield, as part of the Charity’s Team Theo campaign.
Captain of the Charity team, Mat Gilday is aiming to lead the team to success this year and hopes to help children, like his own daughter Megan, to have the best possible experience when visiting The Children’s Hospital, Sheffield.
He said: “This is a fantastic tournament which gives hockey fans the opportunity to play and also raise money for a cause of their choice.
“I have chosen to support The Children’s Hospital Charity as I believe it’s a great local cause that helps kids across the nation.
“My daughter Megan has had a few operations at the hospital for Cerebral Palsy, and the treatment she has received has been absolutely fantastic – so this is my family’s way of saying a big thank you.”
So far, the All Stars tournament has raised over £23,000 for 8 different charities – of which The Children’s Hospital Charity has been selected as the official local charity. The tournament is set to raise thousands more and The Children’s Hospital Charity team is being sponsored by local company Target Signs.
The money raised by Mat’s team for The Children’s Hospital Charity will go towards the Make it Better appeal to create the best possible environment for children to get better more quickly, delivering world class facilities to match the world class expertise already provided, helping them to get better more quickly. With the public’s help, we hope to build a brighter hospital designed with children in mind.
